Our Wedding

From the Perspective of Jude G.C. Mathews: Since we were young, we have read, viewed, and listened to wonderful love stories. We dreamed about how our own love story could occur exactly as other stories have been told before. While life hasn't always played out the way we would have preferred, every moment has led to the beginning of a beautiful romance rooted in friendship and faith. Our story begins in Charlotte, North Carolina, at a publicly-renowned neighborhood grocer in Piper Glen. Known across the United States, Trader Joe's is a cultural icon of well-priced goods and happy vibes. This was the establishment where I met Gracie Hindin in August of 2021. When I met her, I had already been an established Crew Member for almost six years. There had been many times when I pursued other ventures to further my career, only for those ventures to meet dead ends. Trader Joe's has been, and continues to be, a great fall-back foundation when things don't go as planned. I've learned during my time here that God laughs when we make plans. For a few months, Gracie and I had been work acquaintances who talked about anything under the sun, but only when in person. It was really around her birthday, October 9th, when our friendship would go further. Gracie had sent me a message on Instagram asking if I could take her shift so that she could travel to Colorado. Trying to act all cool, I responded three days later, after the situation had already found a resolution. I was very apologetic for ignoring the message, and thought that it would end there. However, I would learn that Gracie types like she talks by providing paragraphs of details when responding to questions. Through our chats, we were able to learn so much more about each other. In December, Gracie asked the question I was too afraid to ask: "Would you like to go out for coffee?" Of course, I was nervous, but I excitedly answered "Yes!" Our date was set for December 8th at Brakeman's Coffee in Matthews, where we sat and chatted for hours. A second date would soon be set for January 13th to enjoy some high-quality Publix sushi, which was where I had asked Gracie if we could share a kiss. God has led the relationship to progress naturally to its current state, which is why you are here, reading the story on our wedding website. So many wonderful moments in our relationship led to the main event: The Proposal at Pier 17 in Downtown New York. I am so grateful to God for blessing me with a wondrous fiancée and her amazing family. My family has adopted Gracie as one of their own! We are so excited to begin this journey of marriage together. The best is yet to come, and we cannot wait for you to join us on May 22, 2026!

Ava is the blonde to Gracie’s brunette and has been her best friend for over 11 years. Most Sundays you can find them sipping coffee at their favorite Charlotte spot, Undercurrent—or out shopping, happily spending time (and money!) together. Their adventures have taken them across the globe, from Italy to London, deepening their shared love for travel and adventure. Through every high and low, Ava has stood by Gracie’s side and never fails to bring joy and laughter into her life. Gracie is beyond grateful to have Ava by her side on such a special day. With her amazing planning skills, organization, and unwavering support, Ava is truly the perfect maid of honor.

Sarah is Gracie’s oldest sister, 14 years her senior, which meant that when Gracie was born, Sarah gained a real-life baby doll. Over the years, Sarah has been both a role model and a second mom to Gracie, shaping their relationship into something truly special. Gracie absolutely adores her nieces and nephews, and it’s extra special that at just 15 years old, she became an aunt for the first time. The bond she shares with her first niece (Sophie-Sarah's firstborn) mirrors the same loving connection Gracie and Sarah have shared throughout their lives. Their unique bond is strengthened by the perspectives they share across their age gap and the many summers they’ve spent together in Mexico. Despite living thousands of miles apart, their connection remains unshakable, and Gracie couldn’t imagine this day without her big sister by her side.

Annie Forrester Balsley, Gracie’s second-oldest sister.
When Annie was just 9 years old, her world shifted—Gracie arrived and took her place as the youngest, which Annie wasn’t too thrilled about at first. Years of teasing followed, with Annie affectionately nicknaming Gracie “FedEx.” Over time, their bond grew stronger, and as Gracie got older, Annie became more invested in their sisterhood. Whenever they’re together, laughter comes easily—these two are truly thick as thieves. Gracie deeply admires Annie and feels so grateful for their friendship. She’s thrilled to have her by her side on this special day.

Olivia Ann Smith, Gracie’s first best friend
From the very beginning, Olivia and Gracie have been inseparable. Growing up as next-door neighbors, they were just a doorknock away from one another. Olivia is the little sister Gracie never had, and Gracie is forever grateful to have her in her life. Olivia will always be an honorary member of the Hindin family. They’ve been dreaming of a wedding together their whole lives—though for years, their closest version was the many elaborate Barbie weddings staged in the playroom. Gracie can’t imagine her big day without Olivia by her side.

Kiara Michelle Pazo, Gracie’s Trader Joe’s partner in crime.
From the moment Gracie spotted Kiara at the register, she knew they were destined to be friends! True to Gracie’s bold spirit, she walked right up and asked to be friends—and since then, Gigi and Kiki have been inseparable. Their creative talents on the art team and their shared sassy energy have only strengthened their bond. Whether it’s shopping ’til they drop—especially on Target runs—or staying up late singing Hamilton lyrics perfectly in sync, Gracie knew Kiara was a lifelong best friend. Kiara has a way of making Gracie laugh that feels like home—she validates her feelings and makes her feel truly seen. Together, they’re navigating their twenties, and there’s no one better to share the journey with. Gigi is so excited to have her Kiki next to her.

Ruth Annie-Grace Koshy, Gracie’s second favorite member of the Mathews-Koshy family.
Ruth may be Jude’s first cousin, but she’s better known as Gracie’s best friend. From their first FaceTime to bonding at a family wedding, their connection was instant. Even with Ruth in Virginia and Gracie in North Carolina, distance has never gotten in the way—they FaceTime almost daily, laughing until their cheeks hurt. When they’re together, it feels like an early 2000s summer best-friend movie. Gracie loves to joke that she’s marrying Jude just so she and Ruth can officially be family. Having Ruth’s laughter and love beside her makes this day unforgettable.

Jonah Daniel Mathews, the second greatest prayer ever answered for Jude.
As the eldest brother to two sisters, Jude longed for a little brother to grow close to and prayed every night during family prayers for Jonah to come along. In 2004, that prayer was answered. With nearly seven years between them, there was just enough age gap to avoid fights but never enough to weaken their bond.

Jonah has been a constant source of love and support for Jude, offering companionship during times when close friends were few. Throughout Jude’s childhood and teen years, no friend compared to Jonah. There’s no one more fitting to stand beside him as his best man.

Abigail Grace Mathews, Jude’s first sibling.
Abigail gave Jude the honor of becoming a brother, and from the start, they did everything together. Over the years, their sibling bond turned into a true friendship filled with laughs, inside jokes, and endless encouragement. Even living in different cities hasn’t slowed them down—every time they reconnect, it’s like no time has passed.

Abigail is the Sharpay to Jude’s Ryan (High School Musical), and Jude wouldn’t have it any other way. He’s beyond excited to have his first partner-in-crime standing proudly by his side as a groomswoman.

Hannah Hope Mathews – Jude’s second sibling and most twin-like in personality.
Hannah and Jude share a unique closeness that shows up in countless photos of just the two of them together, with mom of course. They’re alike in so many ways—from their love of collecting things to their deep care for people. Hannah has always been a sweet sister, but her unwavering support during Jude’s tough early college years meant the world to him and helped him keep going.

Jude is overjoyed to have his “spiritual twin” standing proudly by his side on such an important day.

Jonathan Koshy – Jude’s closest cousin and, in many ways, his first brother.
The first child of Lovely Koshy (Jude’s wonderful aunt) and nephew of Father Denny, Jonathan shares the same spirited personality that runs through their family. When Jude and Jonathan lived in New York, their bond truly formed and stayed strong even after the Koshys moved to Virginia.

For over two decades, Jonathan has been a constant source of fun, love, and friendship in Jude’s life. As fellow Knicks supporters and lifelong best friends, Jude couldn’t be happier to have Jonathan standing by his side on the wedding day.

David Shalom Koshy – Lovely Aunty’s second child and one of Jude’s closest cousins.
Wherever Jonathan and Jude were, David and Jonah were never far behind. As kids, the four shared endless fun and built lasting memories. Over the years, Jude and David’s relationship has grown into a true brotherly connection.

Jude credits David with sparking his fitness journey and being a steady source of encouragement when his confidence wavered. Watching their family bond deepen into a lifelong friendship has been truly special. Jude is honored to have David standing beside him as he and Gracie begin the most important chapter of their lives.

Alexander Walker Hindin – Gracie’s older brother
Alex and Gracie share a special bond that’s been there since the day she was born. At just 12 years old, Alex had hoped for a little brother, but quickly realized his baby sister was an even greater gift. Gracie has always admired her brother’s courageous heart and love for adventure. Over time, Jude and Alex have formed their own bond—spending time talking cars and geeking out over the latest tech. Protective of his little sister, Alex has seen firsthand how deeply loved Gracie is by Jude, which makes having him by their side on this day even more meaningful.

Sophie Ellis Oltra Hindin, the one who made Gracie an auntie.
Gracie never imagined how deeply she would fall in love with her role as Aunty G. Sophie is her little shadow whenever they’re together, and the two are truly inseparable. Sharing the same joyful, playful, and caring spirit, they love shopping and going on donut dates. Gracie is beyond excited to have her Sophie girl by her side as her flower girl.

Grace Josephine Koshy, the youngest of the Koshy family and Jude’s little cousin. Grace embodies the spirit of their dear Ammachi, who passed away in the same year as Grace's birth. 
Grace and Gracie share a special bond, made even sweeter by their shared names. Grace affectionately calls her “big-Gracie” and “her Gracie.” They love FaceTiming and, when together, Grace enjoys being one of the big girls. Jude and Gracie are so excited to have her as one of their flower girls.

Evan Alexander Oltra Hindin, Gracie’s first nephew!
Over the years, Evan and Gracie have grown closer, sharing a special bond. Known for his caring and gentle nature, Evan is the perfect ring bearer. Gracie and Jude have loved spending time with him, making memories they’ll cherish forever.

Jobin Alexander Balsley, Annie’s firstborn and Gracie’s nephew. Gracie and Jobin share a strong bond, even if it’s taken some time to grow—after all, Jobin is very much a mama’s boy. Jude and Gracie feel so lucky to have Jobin celebrating alongside them on this special day!
